Project Based Learning (PBL)
I attended a workshop based on project based learning that was aimed at reviewing and applying the project based learning design process. I was given the opportunity to develop a project- based experience that I could implement into my own classroom.
Sample Kindergarten Project
Title: "Superheroes in Training"
Grade: Kindergarten
Type of Project: Scenario
Context: Kindergarten students will be given the task to help save the community by becoming more like a superhero.
Learning Outcomes: Citizenship and Identity, Applying the research process, English Language Arts, Accessing information
Driving Question: What makes a superhero super and how can I be more like a superhero?
Tangible Outcomes: Product (Individual): Comic Book Page
Presentation (Individual): Presentation of the comic book page to class
Service (class): help out the school by collecting trash from the playground area
Adult World Connections: Visit from a police officer, or community service worker
